Learn How to Intermezzo: Mating Net
This middlegame puzzle is a classic example of an intermezzo, where a forcing check changes the move order and creates a mating net. Even though White is materially ahead, the exposed king and loose kingside pieces make defense impossible once the forcing sequence begins. In classical chess, these tactical refutations often appear when the opponent’s king has limited flight squares and key defenders are overloaded or pinned by the attack.
