Learn How to Win Material: Discovered Attack
This middlegame puzzle shows how a discovered attack can turn a cramped position into a decisive material win. One piece is doing double duty: it is both a tactical target and the key that opens a line for a stronger piece behind it. When that blocker moves or is exchanged, a hidden threat appears immediately, often against a queen, rook, or king. In classical chess, these motifs are especially powerful when pieces are overloaded and the opponent’s coordination is loose.
