Learn How to Spot a Mate in 2: Kingside Attack
This puzzle shows a classic kingside attack where the defender’s king is exposed and the heavy pieces coordinate to force a mating net. The key idea is that tactical pressure on the f-file opens lines toward the king, and the opponent’s pieces are too overloaded to stop the threat. In positions like this, material count matters less than king safety and forcing moves. Once the first check lands, the follow-up is usually unavoidable because the king has very limited escape squares.
