Learn How to Spot a Kingside Attack: Mate in 2
This puzzle comes from the Sicilian Defense, Kan Variation, where Black’s pieces coordinate against the white king on the kingside. The key idea is a forcing attacking pattern: a sacrifice opens lines, removes a defender, and creates a direct mating net. In tactical positions like this, king safety matters more than material, and even a seemingly active white queen can become irrelevant if the king is exposed and the dark squares around it are weak.
