Learn How to Deflect: Mate in 3
This middlegame puzzle shows how a forcing attack can override material balance when the enemy king is exposed. The key idea is deflection: a defender is lured away from a critical square or line, allowing the attack to crash through. In classical chess, these motifs often appear when the queen and rook coordinate against the king’s shelter. Even if one side is materially ahead, king safety can become the dominant factor and decide the game immediately.
