Learn How to Spot Discovered Attack: Tactical Refutation
This middlegame puzzle is a classic example of a tactical refutation built around a discovered attack and a skewer. One side’s queen is active near the enemy king, but the position is overloaded: a key defender is pinned, and the opponent’s queen can be taken with tempo. Once the central tension is resolved, the follow-up attack on the king and exposed pieces becomes decisive. In classical chess, these motifs often decide games when king safety is already compromised.
