Richter Veresov Attack Pin Intermediate Puzzle (Rated 1366): Mate in 1 — Pin Tactic
This puzzle shows a classic opening tactic where king safety collapses because a pinned defender can no longer help the king. In the Richter-Veresov Attack, active piece placement often creates direct threats before development is complete. Here, White’s pieces coordinate around the enemy king, and the tactical pattern is immediate: a forcing checkmate is available because the black king has too few escape squares and key defenders are overloaded or pinned. It is a great example of how opening initiative can turn into a finished attack.
