Learn How to Win a Queen Sac: Defender Removal
This middlegame puzzle is a classic example of removing a key defender to break through a seemingly solid position. White’s queen and bishop look active, but Black’s pieces coordinate around a tactical resource that wins material by forcing exchanges on favorable terms. The important idea is that one piece can be overloaded: if it must defend both a tactical target and a critical square, a forcing capture can collapse the whole position. In classical chess, these motifs often appear when the king is still in the center and rooks are active.
