Quiet Move Puzzle (Rated 2009): Defend — Your Bishop
This chess endgame tests defensive precision when an extra bishop is under direct attack while the opponent has dangerous passed pawns. Material alone does not guarantee a win: king activity, bishop safety, and pawn-promotion races determine the result. The key idea is to preserve the bishop while keeping enough flexibility to monitor both sides of the board. A calm defensive move can maintain the draw by avoiding tactical losses and preventing the connected kingside pawns from gaining decisive momentum.
