Pin Puzzle (Rated 2006): Pin — Win Material
This chess endgame showcases how a relative pin can hide a tactical opportunity. A rook appears active on an open file, restricting the king and pressuring a bishop. However, that pressure is not the whole story: the pinned bishop can move when doing so exposes an attack against the invading rook. At the same time, an opposing bishop is hanging and lacks adequate protection. Recognizing this tactical refutation allows the defender to turn pressure into a decisive material gain.
