Learn How to Spot Kingside Attack: Mate in 1
This puzzle comes from the Italian Game and shows how quickly a kingside attack can become decisive when the enemy king’s shelter is weakened. White’s queen, knight, and bishop are all aimed at the black king, creating a direct mating net. Even though the position looks like a middlegame with active pieces on both sides, the key idea is simple: when the king’s escape squares are covered and a key pawn is pinned or overloaded, a single forcing move can end the game immediately.
