Learn How to Spot Back Rank Mate: Hanging Piece
This puzzle is a classic back rank mate pattern in a middlegame setting. The key idea is that the enemy king is boxed in by its own pieces, so a direct queen invasion can end the game immediately. Even though the position also contains a hanging piece, the tactical priority is the mating net: when the king has no flight squares and the back rank is weak, a single forcing move can decide everything. In classical chess, these motifs often appear after careless rook placement or passive king safety.
