Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Pin Tactic
This middlegame puzzle is a classic example of a mating net built around king safety and a powerful pin. White’s pieces are overloaded and the king has very little breathing room, so a single forcing move ends the game immediately. The key idea is that an active rook on the open file can exploit the alignment of the king and the pinned defender. In classical chess, these one-move finishes often appear when a trapped piece cannot help defend the back rank or the king’s escape squares.
