Learn How to Remove the Defender: Crushing Endgame Tactic
This puzzle shows a classic removal-of-the-defender idea in a simplified middlegame/endgame setting. One side’s queen is overloaded: it protects key squares and also shields a pinned pawn, while an active rook waits on an open file. The winning idea is to force the defender away, then use the resulting tactical sequence to win major material. These positions often look quiet, but one precise exchange can collapse the whole position and leave the opponent in a losing endgame.
