Learn How to Deflect the Defender: Chess Endgame
This puzzle is a classic example of a deflection tactic in a sharp chess endgame. White’s queen and bishop coordinate to overload Black’s king-side defenses, forcing the king into a worse square and pulling the defender away from critical control. Even though Black appears materially ahead, the active pieces and exposed king create a decisive tactical window. In classical chess, these positions often reward forcing moves over material counting, especially when the enemy queen is tied down and the king lacks safe squares.
