Learn How to Deflect the King: Mate in 5
This chess endgame puzzle is a classic example of a deflection-based mating net. White’s attack works because the black king is forced to keep moving while key defenders are pulled away from the critical squares around the king. In classical chess, these patterns often appear when the attacking queen and bishop coordinate to create checks that limit escape squares. Even with material down, king safety can outweigh everything when the enemy king is exposed and the defensive pieces are overloaded.
