Learn How to Spot a Kingside Attack: Mate in 2
This puzzle is a classic middlegame mating net built around king safety and piece coordination. The attacking side uses a forcing check to drag a pawn away from the king’s shelter, creating a direct line to the exposed king. Even though the position looks materially balanced, the tactical factors dominate: active pieces, weak squares around the king, and a vulnerable back rank-style shelter on the kingside. In classical chess, these patterns often decide games faster than material count.
