Learn How to Spot F2-F7 Mate: Scotch Gambit
This puzzle comes from the Scotch Game, Scotch Gambit and shows a classic opening attack against the king. White’s pieces are developed aggressively, with the queen and bishop coordinating on the vulnerable f7 square. In many classical chess positions, f7 is the weakest point in Black’s camp because it is only defended by the king at the start of the game. When the king is still in the center, a direct mating idea can end the game immediately.
