Learn How to Spot a Mate in 2: Alekhine Defense Tactic
This puzzle comes from the Alekhine Defense and shows how an advanced pawn can turn a normal-looking opening into a direct mating attack. White’s queen and knight coordinate to exploit the exposed black king and the weakened kingside structure. Even though material is down, the position is tactically winning because the king has very few safe squares and the defender is overloaded. In classical chess, these forcing patterns often outweigh static material concerns.
