Reuben Fine (White) Puzzle: Skewer — Material Gain
A skewer is a line tactic in which a valuable piece, often the king, is attacked first and must move, leaving a less valuable piece behind it exposed. In this middlegame position, Black’s active bishop can use a forcing check to exploit the alignment of White’s king and rook. The check matters because it removes White’s freedom to defend the secondary target, turning piece activity and king safety into a concrete material advantage.
