Peter Leko (Black) Puzzle: Checkmate — Mate in 4
This chess endgame position is decided by king safety, not material. Although Black has extra material, the exposed king is trapped by White’s active queen and rook. The attacking pieces work together to give forcing checks, progressively cutting off escape squares and leaving Black no time to coordinate defenders. This is a classic mating-net lesson: when the enemy king is central and boxed in by its own pieces, initiative can outweigh material.
