Olexandr Bortnyk (Black) Puzzle: Capture — Tactics

Capture tactics reward accurate material counting, especially when a minor piece attacks a much more valuable enemy piece. In this middlegame, Black appears materially ahead, but the position contains a tactical reversal: White can trade a bishop for the opposing queen and then address Black’s active, loose bishop. The point is not simply to capture what is attacked; it is to calculate the forced recapture and the resulting material balance. A seemingly lost position can change completely when a queen is exposed to a lower-value piece.
