Mikhail Botvinnik (Black) Puzzle: Fork — Forcing Checks
A queen fork is especially powerful when it begins with check. The checked king must respond immediately, giving the attacking queen time to target another valuable piece. In this position, White’s exposed king and loose rook create exactly that tactical relationship. Although White has extra material at first glance, king safety and active queen placement outweigh the static count. The combination converts initiative into a decisive material gain rather than chasing a speculative attack.
