Magnus Carlsen (White) Puzzle: Intermezzo — Pin Tactic
An intermezzo, also called a zwischenzug, is an intermediate move played before the expected recapture or reply. Its power comes from changing the priority of the position: instead of reacting automatically, you create a more urgent threat. In this classical chess middlegame puzzle, an active bishop, an exposed rook, and pressure near the king combine to make a forcing pawn thrust far stronger than an immediate capture. The point is to exploit a temporary tactical imbalance before resolving the original tension.
