Jacques Mieses (White) Puzzle: Mate — Dovetail Net
A dovetail mate is a compact corner mating net in which the defending king’s own pieces and pawns restrict its escape squares. The attacking queen or rook delivers a decisive check while friendly support covers the remaining flight squares. Material often becomes irrelevant: even when one side is far behind, an exposed king with blocked routes can be vulnerable to a forced checkmate. This is a valuable classical chess pattern because it rewards accurate calculation over material counting.
