Henry Bird (White) Puzzle: Use Intermezzo — Checks

An intermezzo, or zwischenzug, is an intermediate move that changes the order of a tactical sequence. Instead of immediately recapturing or taking an obvious prize, the attacker inserts a forcing threat—often a check—to gain time. In this position, the exposed black king and active white pieces make tempo more valuable than an immediate material recovery. The tactical point is to force a defender onto an unfavorable square before resolving the original threat.
