Frederick Yates (White) Puzzle: Spot Intermezzo — Tactic

An intermezzo, or zwischenzug, is a forcing intermediate move played before an obvious recapture or response. Instead of immediately taking a hanging piece, look for a stronger threat such as an attack on the queen, a discovered attack, or a tactical capture elsewhere. In this position, the key idea is to exploit an overloaded defender while creating a second threat. The result is a decisive material gain rather than a mating combination.
