Efim Geller (White) Puzzle: Defend — Take Attacker

A defensive move can be tactical rather than passive. When an enemy pawn or piece attacks two valuable targets, the natural urge is to save one of them. Instead, first ask whether the attacker itself is vulnerable. Here, White can neutralize the fork by capturing the attacking unit, while simultaneously activating a bishop against Black’s loose queen and queenside rook. This turns a material deficit into a winning combination through active piece play.
