David Bronstein (White) Puzzle: Draw — Perpetual Check
Perpetual check is one of the most important saving resources in a chess endgame. Even when an opponent has an advanced pawn and appears close to promotion, active rook checks can deny the king a safe hiding square. Here, both sides have dangerous passed pawns, but the defender’s rook activity matters more than static pawn structure. The goal is not to win material immediately; it is to keep checking from safe distances until the opposing king must repeat its route.
