Bu Xiangzhi (White) Puzzle: Mate — Rook Attack
This chess endgame puzzle shows how active rooks can overturn a material deficit when the enemy king lacks a safe shelter. The central idea is to capture a defender with check, forcing the king toward a restricted area. Once the defending rook disappears, White’s two rooks coordinate across the seventh and eighth ranks. The queen may still be present, but it cannot help if every king escape square is controlled and the final checking line cannot be blocked.
