Adolf Anderssen (White) Puzzle: Fork — Defender Tactics
This puzzle is a lesson in using a forcing check to prepare a knight fork. The defending side’s king is exposed on the queenside, while a centralized knight has access to strong checking squares. A pawn thrust forces the king onto a vulnerable square and changes the tactical geometry of the position. Once the king is displaced, the knight can attack it with tempo while also targeting a major piece, converting pressure into a decisive material gain.
