Learn How to Win Material: Pin Tactic
This middlegame puzzle shows how a well-timed pin can turn into a decisive material gain. In the Vienna Game, Black’s active bishop and exposed king create tactical pressure against White’s pieces and king shelter. The key idea is to use piece coordination to overload defenders, force awkward pawn recaptures, and then exploit the resulting loosened structure. Instead of a direct mating attack, the combination wins material by creating a sequence where each reply is forced and the defender runs out of useful squares.
