Learn How to Spot a Fork: Scandinavian Defense
This Scandinavian Defense puzzle shows how a single tactical idea can outweigh material. White appears better in the opening, but Black’s active knight jump creates a fork against the queen and bishop while also exposing the enemy king. In classical chess, these positions reward calculation over greed: the side with the initiative can turn a material deficit into a decisive attack if the opponent’s pieces are loose and the king is stuck in the center.
