Learn How to Win Material: Tactical Refutation
This puzzle comes from the Scandinavian Defense Portuguese Gambit and shows a classic middlegame tactical refutation. White’s attacking piece on the kingside looks dangerous, but it is actually overextended and can be punished by forcing the king to capture it. The key idea is that when a piece is hanging near the enemy king, the side to move can often neutralize the attack while gaining material and improving king safety. The position is a good example of how a direct tactical shot can overturn an apparent initiative.
