Ruy Lopez Exchange Puzzle (Rated 1447): Punish Hanging Pieces

Every attacking move is a commitment, and in the middlegame a piece that steps forward to give chase can leave a hole behind it. Black's last move placed a bishop on an active diagonal, aiming at White's queen. The catch: that bishop is itself attacked and has no defenders, so the threat against the queen is really an invitation to a counter-strike. White ignores the shout and answers with a capture of its own — the tactical refutation. The queen stays put because the counter-attack wins the exchange by force, converting Black's initiative into a decisive loss of material.
