Learn How to Win Material: Hanging Piece Refutation
This puzzle shows a classic opening tactic where one loose piece and a pin combine to create a tactical refutation. In the Richter-Veresov Attack, active piece placement can look dangerous, but if the opponent’s queen and bishop are aligned poorly, a single forcing sequence can win material immediately. The key idea is to notice when a defended-looking piece is actually hanging because a tactical shot removes the defender and exposes a higher-value target.
