Learn How to Win Material: Tactical Refutation
This puzzle comes from the Rat Defense and shows how a long opening can turn into a decisive tactical refutation when king safety collapses. Black’s pieces are active, White’s king is still in the center, and the exposed king position creates a forcing attack. The key idea is to use checks and threats to keep the opponent from consolidating, then convert activity into material gain. In classical chess, these patterns often appear when development and king safety matter more than static material.
