Learn How to Trap the Queen: Opening Tactic
This puzzle comes from the Richter-Veresov Attack and shows a classic opening tactic where active piece play wins material by trapping a queen. White is under pressure, but the position contains a hidden tactical resource based on forcing moves and coordination. The key idea is that a seemingly strong queen invasion can become overextended when the opponent’s pieces gain tempo and the queen has too few safe squares. In practical classical chess, these motifs often decide the game before development is complete.
