Learn How to Spot a Greek Gift: Torre Attack
This Torre Attack puzzle shows a classic attacking pattern where king safety outweighs material. White has a bishop ready to sacrifice on h7 to drag the king into the open, a motif often called the Greek Gift. The key idea is not the sacrifice itself, but the follow-up pressure: once the king is pulled forward, the queen and bishop coordinate to create a forcing tactical sequence. In classical chess, these patterns often appear in the middlegame when development and king placement matter more than raw material.
