Learn How to Win Material: Hanging Piece Tactic
This puzzle comes from the Philidor Defense and shows a classic hanging piece tactic in the opening. White’s active rook and bishop create pressure against the center, while Black’s king remains exposed and the queen-side pieces are not fully coordinated. The key idea is to notice when an apparently defended piece is actually vulnerable because of pins, skewers, and tactical overload. In positions like this, a forcing capture can open the door to a winning material sequence.
