Learn How to Win Material: Fork Tactic
This puzzle comes from the Old Indian Defense and shows a classic opening tactic where activity and king safety outweigh raw material. White is behind in material, but the exposed black king and an overloaded bishop create a tactical chance. The key idea is to use a forcing check to gain time, then win the loose piece on e4. In practical chess, these positions reward alertness: when the opponent’s pieces are active but unprotected, a forcing move can flip the evaluation quickly.
