Learn How to Win Material: Tactical Refutation
This puzzle comes from the Modern Defense and shows a classic opening punishment when one side’s queen and bishop become overextended. The key idea is tactical refutation: instead of playing a slow developing move, Black uses active piece placement to win material and keep White’s king under pressure. The position is a good example of how opening play can turn into a decisive material gain when a loose pawn, an undefended rook, or an overloaded defender appears.
