Learn How to Deflect the Defender: Chess Puzzle with Theory & Hints
This puzzle is a classic example of a short tactical finish built on deflection and king safety. White uses active piece placement to force the enemy king’s shelter to weaken, then exploits the loosened dark squares around the king. Even though Black is materially ahead, the position is dominated by threats against the king and a vulnerable back line. In classical chess, these motifs often outweigh static material when the opponent’s pieces are poorly coordinated.
