Learn How to Win Material: Fork Tactics
This puzzle comes from the Scandinavian Defense and shows a classic opening tactic: a fork that wins material by exploiting loose pieces. In the opening, development and king safety matter, but tactical shots can override static evaluation when the opponent’s queen, rook, or king is poorly coordinated. Here White’s active knight jumps into the enemy camp, creating immediate threats against multiple targets at once. The lesson is to look for forcing moves that combine check, fork, and tempo.
