Max Lange Attack Puzzle (Rated 1294): Fork — Intermezzo
An intermezzo is a forcing move played before an obvious recapture or response. In this middlegame, Black must notice that a tactical check changes the order of operations: instead of simply addressing the knight’s fork, Black creates a stronger threat first. The pattern combines king pressure, a pin, and a skewer. Once the forcing sequence is recognized, Black emerges with a decisive material advantage and neutralizes White’s active knight.
