Learn How to Win Material: Crushing Intermezzo
This puzzle is a classic middlegame example of tactical awareness over raw calculation. White spots that a seemingly active enemy piece can be undermined by forcing a capture that changes the defender’s role. The key idea is removal of the defender: once the supporting piece is eliminated, the remaining target becomes vulnerable to a follow-up win of material. These motifs often appear in classical chess and are especially common in positions with pinned pieces, loose coordination, and overloaded defenders.
