Learn How to Win with a Discovered Attack: Horwitz Defense
This Horwitz Defense puzzle shows how a single forcing tactic can turn a middlegame advantage into a winning attack. White’s pieces are coordinated around a strong knight outpost, and the position contains multiple tactical motifs at once: discovered attack, pin, and skewer. The key idea is to use a forcing check to drag a defender away, then exploit the exposed queen and loose black king-side structure. In classical chess, these patterns often decide the game immediately.
