Learn How to Win with a Discovered Attack: Horwitz Defense
This Horwitz Defense puzzle shows how a quiet-looking opening position can hide a forcing tactical shot. White’s key idea is a discovered attack: by moving a piece with tempo, the queen and bishop coordination suddenly becomes much stronger, while Black’s queen and rook are left vulnerable. The position also features a pin-like tactical motif and a hanging piece, so the best move is not about slow development but about exploiting the opponent’s last move immediately.
