Learn How to Win Material: Fork Tactic
This Horwitz Defense puzzle shows a classic opening tactic based on a fork and a hanging piece. Black’s knight jumps into the heart of White’s position, creating immediate pressure on the king and a rook at the same time. Because the king is forced to respond, White cannot calmly defend everything, and the resulting sequence leaves Black with a decisive material gain. In classical chess, these short tactical shots often decide the game before development is complete.
