French Defense Tarrasch Variation Puzzle (Rated 1428): Clear a Line — King Fork
In this French Defense Tarrasch middlegame, Black's last move planted a knight on an outpost where it attacks White's bishop — but the move leaves Black's pieces loosely coordinated. White answers with a clearance combination: capture the advanced knight with the knight, meet the forced recapture, and then reroute the queen along the suddenly open line to a square that gives check and forks another piece simultaneously. Because Black's king remains stranded in the center, every reply to the check hands White more material.
